Blocking users & turning off Facebook Chat

Facebook also has a Blocking feature where you can block a person, messages, app invites, event invitations, apps or even pages. Simply go to Settings Arrow ▼ top-right of your screen, then choose the Settings menu item, then on the navigation panel to your left, click on Blocking. Now just enter the name of a person, click the Block button and from now on you will simply not exist on Facebook for that specific user, you’ll basically disappear. You can also block messages, app invites or event invites from a specific user who’s annoying you, just enter their name in the text box field and hit Enter.

Turn off Facebook Chat

If you find constant chat windows popping up annoying like I do, or just prefer not to be bothered, you can easily turn off the Facebook Chat feature. Just click the Gear icon at the top of your chat window, then choose Turn Off Chat.

Summary

Facebook’s privacy settings are a little different from other websites, but they work very well and offer granular privacy. I hope this guide has helped you set your privacy settings to a level you’re happy with 🙂

Cheers!
